I am currently taking either the product Omega-3 Brain 1,000 mg or Omega-3 Select 1000 mg. In your product description, It says ". . .distillation process to remove all traces of mercury and other micro-contaminants . . ." In Jamieson Cod Liver Oil, the description is more specific: "Tested to ensure absence of PCBs, DDT and heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium). . ." Can you confirm that Omega-3 Brain and Omeaga-3 Select are both tested to ensure absence of PCBs, DDT and heavy metals?
Jamieson has long been aware of the contaminants associated with marine-sourced raw materials. Since this product and our other fish oil supplements were introduced, we have conformed to Health Canada, FDA and WHO regulations concerning contaminants, like PCBs, heavy metals, pesticides and dioxins. Our raw materials are routinely tested for said contaminants.
Please be assured that all our fatty acid fish oil supplements are processed through molecular distillation to remove any contaminants. Testing methods used for our fish oil supplements follow United States Environmental Protection Agency standards. The supplements are also reviewed extensively by Health Canada for their safety and quality claims. Our method 01.04.45 was developed based on the Voluntary Monograph, Council for Responsible Nutrition, March 2006, AOAC Official Methods of Analysis (991.39), European Pharmacopoeia 5th Edition, 2005 (2.4.29): "Composition of Fatty Acids in Oils Rich in Omega-3 Acids."
