I had my baby about four months ago and am now suffering from major hair loss. Are there any supplements that will help from me losing my hair?
During pregnancy, an increased number of hairs go into the resting phase, which is part of the normal hair loss cycle. Possible hair loss, connected to pregnancy, usually occurs after delivery and should begin to diminish within three to four months. A vitamin or mineral deficiency may also be a reason some women experience unusual hair loss while pregnant. To have healthier hair and/or reduce hair loss during pregnancy and after delivery, consider the following:
• Fruits and vegetables are essential for a complete and healthy diet. These foods contain flavonoids and antioxidants to help protect hair follicles and encourage hair growth.
• Hair is fragile when it is wet so be gentle. Avoid using a fine-toothed comb or brush that might tangle or pull hair strands.
• Supplement your diet with Vitamin B complex, biotin,Vitamin C, Vitamin E and zinc. Jamieson Laboratories' Vita-Vim™ for Women is a unique formulation reflecting the latest research on nutrients vital for women's health.
