Jamieson Laboratories wants to assure all customers that no Jamieson Natural Sources product is affected by the ongoing investigation and recall of various snack foods containing peanut butter or peanut paste that are believed to be contaminated with salmonella.
Jamieson has received safety certification from all of its peanut butter source suppliers stating that their ingredients are in no way involved in this voluntary recall, which originated with products from the Peanut Association of America in Virginia.
This clearance applies to all of Jamieson's Slim Down nutritional bars, including those flavours that explicitly contain peanut ingredients, as well as those which are manufactured in a facility where peanut-based products are made.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has compiled, and continues to update, a recall list of affected snack foods. According to the CFIA, contaminated products may appear unspoiled but can cause salmonellosis, a foodborne illness, if consumed.
