No Gulf Glucosamine
May 7, 2010
Since April 20, 2010, the world’s eyes have been on the Gulf of Mexico. The tragic explosion and eventual sinking of BP’s Deepwater Horizon rig has resulted in more than 200,000 gallons of crude oil spewing into the enormous ocean basin each day, posing a threat to wildlife and landscapes from Alabama to Mexico.

The staggering human and environmental toll understandably increases consumer scrutiny about the sustainability and traceability of raw materials used in manufacturing natural health products, such as glucosamine. Shrimp fishing is one of the biggest industries in the Gulf of Mexico, and shrimp shells are among the marine-based raw materials used by some companies in the production of glucosamine.

Jamieson Laboratories wants to reassure its customers that Gulf of Mexico shellfish are not used in our glucosamine formulas.

All Jamieson glucosamine is shellfish-free. Our industry-leading products are derived from North American corn that is grown and processed locally in Iowa. Each day, thousands of tons of the farm-fresh ears are harvested and shipped to a sophisticated processing facility, less than 60 miles away, where they are fermented into glucosamine.

This patented, premium product is exclusive to Jamieson in Canada. No other Canadian manufacturer offers the same high-quality, North American plant-sourced supplement produced according to Jamieson’s exacting standards.

Those exacting standards include our proprietary protocol 360 Pure. Like all Jamieson products, our glucosamine formulas undergo more than 360 quality-control tests that guarantee the safety and complete life-cycle traceability of raw materials, and the absolute clinical purity and consistent active potency of our finished products.
